Sharing Scripture — October 7, 2023

Despite starring on Catham Central’s basketball, volleyball, and softball teams, and serving as Senior Board Executive President, high school senior Kelsey Hussey maintains a 4.57 GPA. She chalks up her work ethic to a dedication to academics and her teammates.

“I knew that if I didn’t come to school, I couldn’t be there for my teams.”

“She always does what’s best for the team, no matter what,” teammate Mattie Caviness said of the Catham Central girls volleyball team’s captain.

Coach Brett Walden added, “She’s a good facilitator and runs offense well. [Setter is] a very selfless position because you don’t really get the fanfare that you really deserve.”

Just as Hussey is always there for her teammates, God is always walking with us. Unfortunately, we don’t always offer the praise or reverence the Almighty I Am deserves, or even realize how much the Lord works on our behalf in the background. Yet, there’s nothing we can do to make God love us any more or any less (even if we break our promises)!

In fact, humanity turned its back on Yahweh, and instead of reciprocating what we deserved, God became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) that we might be reconciled, our sins washed away in the name of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). Although Christ’s selfless act received little fanfare at the time, His death on the cross is now preached around the world with the promises that God is still with us via the Holy Spirit, and that Christ will come again to take us home.

And that’s something to cheer about!
